Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) August 15, 2011 cleveland.com has launched new Android and iPhone smartphone apps covering high school sports teams throughout Northeast Ohio.
The cleveland.com High School Sports Android app and the cleveland.com High School Sports iPhone app feature content from the number one Northeast Ohio news, sports and information website in affiliation with The Plain Dealer and Sun News.
“The High School Sports app will give our local audience a full complement of high school sports news and information,” Plain Dealer editor Debra Adams Simmons said. “This is an extension of the sports news and information currently available. Given the appetite for high school sports news and information in our region, the new app is a great addition to the lineup of information tools we have available.”
The apps are free for consumers to download and use. Fans are able to select and save their favorite teams to appear on the home screen of the app. Users who select favorite teams will see each team’s latest game scoreboard and upcoming schedule. They also will have the option of requesting “push alert” notifications whenever any of their favorite teams has completed a game.
“cleveland.com is proud to offer these free apps to both iPhone and Android users,” said Denise Polverine, editor-in-chief of cleveland.com. “The apps provide instant, customized access to our extensive high school sports content and allow fans to participate by uploading scores right from the game.”
The apps are available for download at no charge in the iTunes App Store and the Android Market. They were developed and launched with Advance Internet and Mobile IQ. The technology development firm Mobile IQ worked with Advance Internet to provide a unique and engaging smartphone app experience for the millions of high school sports fans using Advance Internet sites, including cleveland.com – the leading local source of high school sports news and information in Northeast Ohio.
The apps will leverage Advance Internet’s custom-built high school sports platform, which manages news, stats, standings and schedules in 44 sports. There are 110,000 team pages for users to choose from across all Advance Internet markets. The platform generates more than 100 million page views a year.
